Will add this in here rather than wait for the whole page to load. Just returned from a 2500 mile trip on the Savage. Went to the FSSNOC Rally in Lander WY from MOses Lake, WA. Invited my kid brother to ride with me on his HD and was glad he was along. Anyway, The Savage ran great from 1200 ft here to the pass between Jackson and Dubois WY 9500+ ft. Weather varied from warm here to rain, snow, hail about 34 degress on the pass to 105 degrees in Pendleton OR on the way home. Rode as many back roads as we could but did use the slab to cross cross southern ID. Need some thoughts on oil consumption. Fixed the oil plug leak earlier and changed to 20-50 synthetic oil before I left. Watched for leaks and when I checked the oil it was down a qt+ at about 1000 miles. Brother was followng me and said there was no noticeable smoke. Did not use any oil on the way home futher and hotter. Trip over was the cold wet weather, my gut level feeling is the engine cylinder overcooled and went out of round in the cold and wet.But with the load totally vaporized the oil. Polar Pilot, do air cooled small aircraft engines ever experience this on the front cylinders. I'm running a old Wixom full fairing and there is lots of air directed over the engine as it comes off the bottom of the fairing. If I could only solve the TB problem, I'm using an air hawk pad, have a back rest against the GIVI trunk so am comfortable other than by about 350 miles my butt is killing me. By the end of 7 days, I was so glad to get home. Will be looking at a sprung seat or other options before the next trip. Also floorboards. 2 other stock Savages at the Rally, but lots of other neat "thunpers". Busy helping my BIL with haying so will check this tomorrow for your thoughts. Max
